“Just how many hours did you spend in lectures? We all know there are the seminars, case study preparation, reading and submitting exercises. But how much teacher contact time is there for a Harvard MBA?”
The Harvard MBA says:
Because of the HBS emphasis on the case study method, you spend a lot of time in class. During your first year, for example, you cover 13 cases per week, each of which requires a 90-minute classroom session. The numbers for your second year can go down a bit if you choose project-based classes; these classes usually wrap about a month early so you can spend the final month working on your projects (or in the case of my final semester, moving out to Silicon Valley to work on my startup).
In terms of 1:1 teacher contact time, the best way to get this is to work on an independent study project. HBS professors are very generous with their time, and will work with you to develop projects that fit well with A) their research and b) your desired experience.
In my opinion, most HBS students fail to take full advantage of the teacher contact available to them; I always found my professors unfailingly helpful.
Ask a compelling question, and you just may see it answered right here, by a real Harvard MBA! And it won't cost you one thin dime.
