Thanks to Ben, who generously sent me his copy of “Ahead of the Curve” to review, I’m about halfway through the book. The midway report is that while I still have a number of criticisms of the book, at least based on what I’ve read to date, it seems like the author, Philip Delves Broughton, got jobbed by the reviewers and press coverage who sensationalized a few small incidents from the book into a expose, rather than portraying it for what it is: A good memoir of one man’s experiences at HBS.
Of course, the real excitement is that I’ve been contacted by Philip Delves Broughton (or PDB as his classmates called him) to discuss the book. Once I finish reading the book, look for a wide-ranging discussion between the two of us on the book and HBS in general.
Ask a compelling question, and you just may see it answered right here, by a real Harvard MBA! And it won't cost you one thin dime.

Did you ever finish the book? I don’t see a follow-up post to this…
You know, that’s my fault. I need to get back in touch with PDB and do a chat of some kind.
That would be great, bet there are plenty that would like to see that. Looking forward to it.
It would be great to see what kind of dialogue both PDB and Chris can have regarding the book.
I am starting an MBA program next week myself and a professor thought this book might be something good to digest before beginning the curriculum. After completing the book, (in two days nonetheless) what I found was that PDB’s experiences were certainly just that, his own. It did provide a little comfort to know that no matter what the reason for pursuing my MBA, there is certainly light at the end of the tunnel.
Fun Read PDB…
