The key is that I don't take elitism too seriously.  I think it's unproductive to either take the stance that going to an elite school is a guaranteed ticket to the good life, or a waste of money.

Going to such schools carries certain advantages, as well as certain costs.  It's my job to lay out the real costs and benefits, and let the reader decide what they want to do.

Ben knows that I told him not to worry about getting a degree--given his accomplishments, the usual benefits of a degree don't apply.  He stands on his own merits.</description>

I lived in Beantown for a while (even got my MBA from one of your lower-tier schools there) and those H-MBAers were pricks, dare I say elitist.  Ugh. Now I'm upset even more b/c you made me use that stupid elitist word.</description>
